Type: European Projects News
Project: IGMA3

The project IGMA-3 Shortening Distance work to Labour Market for young people with risk for unemployment and social exclusion - Distance Education for Coordinated Measures by Regional Stakeholder Networks has been approved for financing under the Basic Action - Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices in the field of  Strategic Company Partnership strategy for Adult Education. The project has a duration of 3 years starting in September 2015 and finishing in September 2018.

Research has shown that the main problem regarding youth employment is the weakness in the smooth transition from school to work.

This is mainly due to two reasons:

  1. The employers are not willing to invest in the future of the workforce and focus mainly  on the current needs of the company
  2. There is a lack of coordination and cooperation between bodies dealing with education, counseling and education of young adults.

The reasons mentioned above, make the career counseling services ineffective as well as the fact that the placements of the unemployed are not adapted to education, the ability of the individual and the regional employment needs.

The IGMA-3 project aims to meet this challenge and provides a complete methodology for all stakeholders involved in young adults, which would include strategies for job placements and expertise to change employers' attitudes. The project aims to the professionalism of adult education staff dealing with career counseling and job placement.

The result of the introduction of the methodology <IGMA3>  to the stakeholders will lead to better job placement opportunities for young adults, based on their needs and capabilities. Therefore, the application of this methodology will lead to a reduction in unemployment.

The coordinator of this European programme is organization Folkuniversitetet Uppsala from Sweden, while Mediterranean Management Center is a partner in this project. In this partnership other organizations from Netherlands, Greece, Span, Norway and Ukraine participate as well.
